Forda Farm Bed and Breakfast
Welcome to our family run beef and sheep farm, where you arrive as guests and leave as friends. Forda Farm Bed and Breakfast nestles in it's own secluded valley, in Thornbury, close to the market town of Holsworthy. A short drive to the coast at Bude, on the North Devon and North Cornwall border. This means we are an excellent base for exploring the best of both counties.
Our pedigree Charollais flock lamb around Christmas and our commercial sheep lamb in March and April. The young calves arrive in the autumn, to be fed on the bucket. We have a number of farm cats including Sox, Storm, Smudge and Tiggy. Sometimes we also have kittens on the farm as well. We also have 3 farm dogs, Jess, Holly and Floss who help the farmer with his work every day.
Enjoy the beaches of Bude, Widemouth Bay and Crackington Haven (all are ideal for surfing and families) or walk the dramatic South West Coast Path.
Day trips to the Eden Project, Tintagel, Boscastle, RHS Rosemoor and a number of National Trust Properties are recommended. Please note that nearly all the attractions require you to book in advance now.
A variety of adventure parks are within easy reach for the children. Fishing and horse riding can also be accessed nearby.
Dartmoor, Bodmin and Exmoor are excellent trips out from Forda Farm Bed and Breakfast. Depending on the weather you can also see Dartmoor and Bodmin in the distance from our top fields too.
We are a 4 star GOLD award farmhouse bed and breakfast, with Great4 Awards for Cycling, Families, Walking and Farming ( from Quality in Tourism). We like to meet you with a cream tea on arrival, served in your room now or in the garden if the weather is kind. We can offer simple 2 course evening meals and pack lunches (by prior arrangement and at a small cost)
We are in the heart of Ruby country. An area of glorious, unspoiled, countryside filled with walking, cycling and riding trails (not all are off road). We are close to cycle route 3 and also the Land's End to John o' Groat's route for the dedicated long distance cyclist.
Dunstaple farm ice cream is an award winning local ice cream and is made next door, a truly delicious, way to end your evening meal. A small bag of Clotted Cream Fudge can be found in your rooms, so put your feet up after a busy day and enjoy!
